great job. but why dark vader's soldier is just sitting there?

ForgottenDreams

It's good, but I don't think it really fits the description you put there.
Just going by their expressions and positions in the picture, I could have come up with a story like....Darth Vadar's soldier is having an affair with the girl, who's married to the "handsome boy" in the picture. Both of them want to get rid of "handsome boy" so Darth Vadar's soldier comes into the room and makes up some dangerous mission for "handsome boy" to go on. "Handsome boy" looks doubtfully back at his wife as Darth Vadar's soldier explains because it all sounds so dangerous and far-fetched.
...or something along those lines :)

His expression just seems rather doubtful and worried and hers is kind of like "I have an evil secret"...and, well, Darth Vadar's soldier is wearing a mask soo...

I don't understand this .. how come that the woman's body is so (almost?) perfectly drawned in contrary with the rest of the drawing? ..
For instance .. her hands and the dress look very detailed and real while the background, the robot, the glass, the hair and the face have far less of quality ..

Do you always focus on body's and neglect other things? .. or do you let someone else draw it for you ..

Don't want to sound rude or something .. but just wanted to say it cause it striked me so much

heheh it's very funny :) i don't need someone! i can draw alone :) and i did it.
i know, background is not good because i do pay attention to important objects for me!
really very funny comment

The other characters in the drawing don't really play an important part, and i think they only distract from the woman, who is drawn the most detailed.
If you want to draw beautiful women make sure the background doesn't distract ^^)

Hmm... I think I like  ForgottenDreams' story better. If the Imperial Soldier was really the husband, he would be shooting the guy, chicken or not!
Silenz got a little excited, but he has a point. All three characters are equally important for the narrative, and this should reflect in the rendering. The way it is now, the soldier looks like he was added as an afterthought.
About the composition, the back wall might have worked better at an angle.
Your drawing in general is improving very quickly, and this is one of your best ones yet, but you still have that problem with the hair.

the background is very distracting. The expressions don't match. Good shading anyway..
I think you should find a better idea than this.

You've ruined a pretty good figure drawing with a cronically geeky backdrop. It's a shame because if the woman was on her own, lying on something neutral, like a couch or a bed, then I would give you high marks. But alas I can not forgive you.

iflvlb

 05/04/04 @679

...yes a couch, or a slab of beef perhaps? Actually, she could do with some elf-like ears, and perhaps a magical trumpet that summons the pixies from the forest of sorrow...

so anyway...
...
I'm off to Turkey now guys....I've heard the women there are stunning....these drawings have confirmed any doubts I may have had....

May the wind forever blow in my hair.....

Nice bit of english there from aimer28....I never knew there were so many aimers out there...

On a personal note...I think the piece lacks a little...um, 'reason'...about why you chose to piece it together the way you have. I for one agree with MikeOakley about having the woman on her own...or maybe just her and the man...Try to have focus in your work as opposed to several distracting elements. Shading is carefully done, although the overall tone is a little flat with the exception of her leg and her clothing which look like they had direct reference...

Nice attempt, but just try to tackle one issue at a time, and with a piece like this, provide a focal point for the viewer be it with subject matter, light or depth of field...

keep drawing chum... :)

Oh deary, I'm only just critiquing this now...talk about late! :p I can't believe how quickly you're improving from piece to piece. Go eat a chocolate, you deserve it! ^_^

I'm not sure what mood I'm supposed to be getting from this- I find it almost comical, partly due to the setting. :p This can be a good thing. ;)

My only real critique would be on the hair. It doesn't quite look as realistically rendered as the rest of the figures. But, I of all people that hair is more than just a tinsy bit difficult- keep practicing! The description doesn't quite sit well with the picture- I too agree that the stormtrooper would at least be on his feet to be saying that. But it's just the description- the real thing to look at is your wonderful sketching technique! ^_^

Keep up the good work!

The woman body is real fascinating

But whether soldier is a chiken or not, i dont know any man who would sit there n believe her wife was only 'talking' lying in that position!

I have to admit...the first thing I thought when I saw this piece was that the soldier might be saying: "My turn?" I know...that's horrible...but...it was just the initial response to it. :)

My favorite thing is the ladys leg and the texture on her night dress, they look very 3 dimensional, very nice shading too. Keep it up Graf! :) :) :) +8

I like the picture, it would be perfect would the stormtrooper be removed.
Besides, his head it soo small.
